Honouring Heroes - ANZAC Day Ceremonies across the Capricorn Coast region
Every year on April 25th, Australia and New Zealand come together to commemorate the brave soldiers who served and sacrificed their lives in the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) during World War I.
ANZAC Day holds profound significance across the nation, with ceremonies held in cities, towns, and villages to pay tribute to those who fought for their countries.
In Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast, these ceremonies carry special resonance, honouring the local heroes who answered the call of duty.

Dawn Service
The solemnity of ANZAC Day begins with the Dawn Service, a poignant ritual that symbolizes the darkness from which the soldiers emerged to serve their nations.
In Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast, locals gather before the break of dawn at memorials and cenotaphs, standing in quiet reflection as the first light of day illuminates the sky.
The haunting strains of the bugle playing the Last Post echo through the air, followed by a minute of silence, a time for personal contemplation and remembrance.
As the sun rises, wreaths are laid at the foot of memorials, each poppy representing a life lost in service.
